First Portrait

My favorite picture from the day so far... he's been so happy all day, we're not sure what to expect tomorrow!

We feel very blessed to finally have this little guy here.

I love baby feet. They are so dry and wrinkled... no padding at all. They were useless in the womb but will become very important now. Fragility...

William was born on March 28th, 2007 @ 459p. He weighs 8lbs, 7oz and was 19 inches long. He also had a 34cm head for which he can thank his father. Jill is such a wonderful mother... she had a great delivery and so far her post partom has been easy. She looked so beautiful right after delivering, how can you beat that!
Will had some trouble breathing right after being born so they took him up to the nursey fairly quickly. The nurses put him on oxygen and started the process of warming him up. Then, dad gave him his first bath and he had to be warmed up again. Poor little guy, he had just been in a really warm place and then we evicted him.
Both mom and baby are doing fine and finally the Knotwell name has an heir.
More updates soon, it's late here...

Nearing baby time...

3:37 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2007

This is actually my favorite picture from when Charlotte was about to be born. It really speaks to the anticipation and the things to come. You always know when the time is nearing because the nurses come prepare the birthing center. You probably can't see it, but there's a little cap sitting in the station which will be the babies first clothes. So exciting!

As I am typing, the nurse is preparing the doctor's delivery station and the doctor just called and said to up the "pit" level.

Jill is actually dead asleep right now, contracting fairly heavy every 2-3 minutes and has no idea because she has her epideral in. How did women deliver babies 20 years ago? Much credit to our parents!

Oxytocin (usually referred to as pitosin) is "the pit." She's been on it now for a few hours... it's doing the trick!

It's a snowy day in Utah today. Kind of a freak winter storm. We called at 630 this morning and found out that the "old wives tale" about going into labor because of storms is more than a tale. There were completely full at 12 women in labor and broken water. So, we waited again. At 8 in the morning the nurse called Jill's doctor and he said that Jill wasn't going to wait any more. Luckily!

We are scheduled

8:57 PM Monday, March 26, 2007

May of you were thinking that we were going to have a baby today. Unfortunately, the hospital had no room for us today and since we were a "scheduled induction" they wouldn't let us come in. We are scheduled as the first in line for Wednesday and will likely have the little one on that day. We are ready and the bags are packed. Be sure to check the blog on that day to see pictures, etc.

Love to all of you,

John

Charlotte Loves her Cereal

9:35 PM Monday, March 12, 2007

Charlotte loves her "Seer-yul." She's pretty good with that spoon, huh? She's got a fever right now, hoping its short lived... no runny nose so that means its not teething. Daddy got her sick. UGH!

Charlotte loves to bounce!

3:55 PM Sunday, March 04, 2007

Charlotte loves bouncing in her crib. We always know what time it is in the morning because at 720a, we can hear the familiar squeak of her crib springs as she tries feverishly to make it from one end of her crib to the other without stopping. Let me just tell you, she can do it several times in a row!
